Add or Remove Feedback Button in Microsoft Edge

How to Add or Remove Feedback Button in Microsoft Edge Chromium

The Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser comes with a feedback button on the toolbar that allows sending your feedback with a single click. Some users would like to remove that button, so Microsoft has added a number of options to the browser.

The stable version of Microsoft Edge Chromium is available to the public for a while. The browser has already received a few updates, with support for ARM64 devices in Edge Stable 80. Also, Microsoft Edge is still supporting a number of aging Windows versions, including Windows 7, which has recently reached its end of support. Check out Windows Versions Supported by Microsoft Edge Chromium. Finally, interested users can download MSI installers for deployment and customization.

Edge includes a special feedback tool, which is accessible via a button on the toolbar, and in the menu. The button helps to quickly send your suggestions and tell Microsoft about the issues you run into while using the browser.

  8. To restore defaults, e.g. allow the user to add or remove the button, use the file Default Options for Feedback Button in Edge.reg.

How it works

The registry files add a 32-bit DWORD value UserFeedbackAllowed under the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge. See how to go to a Registry key with one click.
Its value data:

  • UserFeedbackAllowed = 1 - the feedback button is visible.
  • UserFeedbackAllowed = 0 - the feedback button is disabled.
  • UserFeedbackAllowed is not present - the appearance of the feedback button is controlled by the user.

Note: Even if you are running 64-bit Windows you must still create a 32-bit DWORD value.

For pre-release versions, Microsoft is currently using three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The Canary channel receives updates daily (except Saturday and Sunday), the Dev channel is getting updates weekly, and the Beta channel is updated every 6 weeks. Microsoft is going to support Edge Chromium on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, alongside macOS, Linux (coming in the future) and mobile apps on iOS and Android.
