How to Change Default Download Folder in Microsoft Edge Chromium

By default, Microsoft Edge saves the files you download to your downloads folder, which is usually set to C:\Users\you user name\Downloads. You may want to change it to a different location. Here is how it can be done.

With the Edge browser, Microsoft has switched to the Chromium's Blink engine from their own EdgeHTML project in order to make the browser compatible with all modern web standards, offering best performance and compatibility with popular extensions.

Microsoft is going to support the new Edge browser on Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10, and macOS. Also, devs are about to create a Linux version of the browser.

Microsoft is currently using three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The Canary channel receives updates daily (except Saturday and Sunday), the Dev channel is getting updates weekly, and the Beta channel is updated every 6 weeks. The stable channel is also on its way to users. You can find the actual Insider Preview versions at the end of this post. The stable version of Microsoft Edge is expected to be released on on January 15, 2020.

To Change Default Download Folder in Microsoft Edge Chromium,

  1. Open the Edge Chromium browser.
  2. Click on the menu button, or press Alt + F to open the menu.
  3. From the menu, select Settings.
  4. On the left, click on Downloads.
  5. On the right,click on the Change button next to Location.
  6. Pick a new destination and click on Select Folder.

You are done!
