In Edge, the tracking protection includes three levels. The levels are basic, balanced and strict. Tracking prevention is set to "Balanced" by default. According to Microsoft, the Strict option offers the strongest tracking protection, but may break certain web sites. This can be done directly in Settings under the Privacy section.

Edge Chromium Tracking Preventions

After updating to today's Canary build, 80.0.338.0, I have notice a small change made to the tracking options. It is now possible to enable the Strict prevention feature for InPrivate browsing mode.

To Enable Strict Tracking Prevention for InPrivate Mode in Microsoft Edge,

  1. Update your Microsoft Edge to the latest version (see below).
  2. Run Microsoft Edge Chromium.
  3. Go to in Settings > Privacy and Services (or type edge://settings/privacy in the address bar).
  4. Turn on the option Always use “Strict” tracking prevention when browsing InPrivate.Enable Strict Tracking Prevention For InPrivate In Edge

You are done. The option can be disabled at any moment later. If you find that it gives you issues with the InPrivate browsing, you might want to disable it. It is disabled by default as of the moment of this writing.

Microsoft Edge Channels

Microsoft is currently using three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The Canary channel receives updates daily (except Saturday and Sunday), the Dev channel is getting updates weekly, and the Beta channel is updated every 6 weeks. The stable channel is also on its way to users. You can find the actual Insider Preview versions at the end of this post. The stable version of Microsoft Edge is expected to be released on on January 15, 2020.
