Microsoft Edge 98 hits the Beta channel with security improvements
Microsoft has released the first Edge 98 build to the Beta channel. The browser version is 98.0.1108.23. It is notable for having the overlay scrollbars feature, and includes a number of security improvements that can protect users against zero-day attacks.
The first Edge 99 build hits the Dev channel
Microsoft today released the first build of the Edge browser based on Chromium 99. It is now available in the Dev channel. Subsequently, Edge 98 will become available to Insiders running Edge Beta.
Edge has got page thumbnail navigation for PDF files, and new UI effects
One more improvements has landed in the built-in PDF reader in Microsoft Edge. It now shows a pane on the left with page thumbnails for the open document. You can use it for quick navgation.
Edge Canary now lets you follow YouTubers
Last year, Microsoft introduced a new "Followable Web" flag in the Edge browser. The idea behind the feature is to allow users to keep track of updates from their favorite websites and content creators. Several months after its first appearance, the "Followable Web" feature is now working, letting users follow creators on YouTube.
Edge 97 is now available for Android and iOS
Last week, after an almost two-month pause between releases, Microsoft shipped Edge 97 to desktop platforms (Windows, macOS, and Linux). The update brought citations support, automatic HTTPS, and other minor changes. You can learn about Edge 97 for desktops here.
Edge will get smoother scrolling on displays with VRR support
The latest release of Microsoft Edge Canary includes a new feature that can significantly improve scrolling on FreeSync displays. The browser will be able to temporarily increase the screen refresh rate by using Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology for smoother scrolling.

Edge now lets you manually add passwords to the built-in manager
Microsoft is continuously improving the built-in password manager in the Edge browser. It can detect password leaks, show password strength, sync your data across devices, suggest hard-to-crack passwords, etc. With a recent update in the Canary channel, Microsoft Edge is one step closer to being a fully-fledged password manager that satisfies the needs of an average consumer. Users now can manually add passwords to store them within a Microsoft account.
Microsoft Edge is getting a new Games feature
It looks like Microsoft is prepraring a new feature for its Edge browser. A new flyout can be enabled in Edge Canary, with a list of games built of HTML5.
