Microsoft today released a new build from the Dev channel to Insiders. Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22478 is now available via the Windows Update service. It comes from the RS_PRERELEASE branch, which is not tied to a specific Windows release. Such builds have all the bleeding edge changes and also show a desktop watermark.
Sysinternals apps are now available on the Microsoft Store
After publishing the PowerToys app in the Microsoft Store for Windows 11, Microsoft brought another set of utilities to its store. This time, users can download the Sysinternals suite as a single application from the Microsoft Store on Windows 11. Also, you can install Sysinternals on Windows 11 using Windows Package Manager or winget.
Unsupported PCs with Windows 11 receive cumulative updates without limits
On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, Microsoft released the first public cumulative updates for the recently launched Windows 11 operating system. While computers with supported hardware had no issues getting those updates (except for AMD-based PCs, where the patches significantly reduced performance), the real question was the fate of users with Windows 11 running on unsupported hardware. As it turned out, old computers with specs that do not match Windows 11 minimum hardware requirements received the first cumulative updates for Windows 11 without issues.

The first cumulative update for Windows 11 cripples performance on AMD systems even more
AMD recently warned its users about potential performance downgrades after updating supported hardware from Windows 10 to Windows 11. According to the official data, on Windows 11, AMD systems experience significantly increased L3 cache delays, which cause performance dips in games and memory-sensitive applications up to 15%. AMD said a fix is coming this month, but it is not part of the first cumulative updates for Windows 11 that went out yesterday. In fact, those updates made things even worse, turning the situation from bad to ugly.
