Microsoft Edge Chromium Enables Dark Mode for New Tab Page

Edge Canary Icon 256

The latest Canary build of Microsoft Edge sports yet another minor change in the browser. The New Tab page now follows the overall dark theme of the browser, and turns dark.

If you are following Microsoft Edge Chromium development, you must already know that it fully supports the native dark color options of Windows 10.

The browser respects the user preferences made under Personalization > Colors in the Settings app of Windows 10.

In dark mode, Edge brings the dark color to all the internal pages of the browser, including Settings, the Favorites flyout, the Downloads and History panes, and other controls and menus.

Finally, the New Tab page joins them by receiving the dark color when the dark theme is enabled.

Microsoft is currently using three channels to deliver updates to Edge Insiders. The Canary channel receives updates daily (except Saturday and Sunday), the Dev channel is getting updates weekly, and the Beta channel is updated every 6 weeks. The stable channel is also on its way to users. The new Microsoft Edge browser installs updates automatically. Also, you can manually check for updates by visiting the menu Help > About Microsoft Edge. Finally, you can grab the Edge installer from the following page:
