Windows 11 is getting newer emoji and MICA titlebars

With release of Windows 11 build 22557, Microsoft has added a ton of new features and improvements to the OS. There are some long awaited improvements like drag-n-drop to the taskbar, Start menu folders, new Task Manager and much more. Besides such major changes, there are minor visual improvements.

Microsoft has added a reworked set of emojis in Windows 11 build 22557. While they are still 2D and still not long-ago promised stylish 3D emoticons, the changes are notable.

Microsoft has update some emojis following users' feedback, including a tear emoji, sakura, and a colored heart. Check out the following screenshot.

Updated Emoji

3D emoji are expected to eventually become available in Windows 11. Currently, Microsoft added them to their Teams software only.

Besides, you will find several new items under the kaomoji section in the emoji panel (Win + .), including UwU.

Finally, the Mica material style is now used for more window titles. For example, the Run dialog now uses Mica.

While the above changes are actually minor, Windows 11 build 22557 ships a galore of novelties for the end user. It includes a redesigned Task Manager, folder previews and Quick Access file pinning for File Explorer, five new touch gestures, and a better Settings app. Another interesting addition is live captions for any audio source. More importantly, it restores drag-and-drop on the taskbar and folders in the Start menu. Finally, to help you efficiently arrange open apps on the screen, there is a new Snap Bar feature.

  1. That title bar effect is so mild that it may as well not be there. Sigh… how I wish we could have the good old Aero back.
