A new snapshot of the development version of the Vivaldi browser is out. This version comes with almost 70 fixes and improvements, including a new privacy option for WebRTC, tab hibernation for Linux and more mouse gesture possibilities.
Here are the highlights for Vivaldi 1.3.534.3.
Improved privacy for WebRTC
As you may already know, you can establish voice and video calls using WebRTC in a web browser. It is powered by HTML5 and does not involve plugins or browser addons. Vivaldi 1.3.534.3 allows leaving less fingerprints when browsing the web by adjusting the appropriate settings in the Privacy section of its settings. There you will find the new WebRTC section.
Tab hibernation in Linux
Linux users finally get the long awaited tab hibernation feature. The Tab hibernation option will allow you to purge all inactive tabs from memory and make the browser use less RAM. If you have many tabs open, simply right click on the active tab and choose 'Hibernate Background Tabs'. This will immediately free up more resources as your tabs are 'put to sleep'. Switching over to any of them will bring them back to life. Earlier, this feature was not available for Linux users, but now you can try it.
Extra mouse gestures
Vivaldi 1.3.534.3 comes with additional mouse gestures. For example, it is possible to jump to the top of a page using a gesture. These new gestures have to be enabled through the Mouse section in Vivaldi settings. You can assign your own gesture to the following actions:
- Scroll Top
- Scroll Bottom
- Scroll Page Up
- Scroll Page Down
- Windows: 32-bit for Windows 7+ (Recommended) | 64-bit for Windows 7+
- Mac: 10.9+
- Linux DEB: 64-bit (Recommended) | 32-bit
- Linux RPM: 64-bit (Recommended) | 32-bit
