Windows 10 S is the new edition of Windows 10 with the big difference from regular editions being that it does not have support for installing and running Win32 programs: you can only install apps that are available in the Windows Store. Windows 10 S ISOs are out for MSDN subscribers

Windows 10 S is the new edition for Windows 10 with the big difference from regular editions being that it does not have Win32-app support: you can only install apps that are available in the Windows Store. Today, Microsoft announced that it is making Windows 10 S available to MSDN subscribers.

Windows 10 S Won’t Support Bash on Ubuntu Console

During the Build 2017 event, Microsoft announced that in addition to Ubuntu, users of Windows 10 will be able to install SUSE, Ubuntu and Fedora console terminals from the Windows Store. However, this ability will be limited to "full" versions of Windows 10. The new edition, Windows 10 S, won't support this feature.

Windows 10 S vs. Windows 10 Pro vs. Windows 10 Home

At the #MicrosoftEDU event in New York City, Microsoft has officially announced a special SKU of Windows 10, previously known as Windows 10 "Cloud". This new version of Windows is called Windows 10 S. Here is a comparison of its features with other consumer editions of Windows 10.

As you may have heard already, Microsoft is working on a new Windows SKU, known as Windows 10 Cloud. More information has become available about this build. Also, its official name was revealed, which is Windows 10 S.

Windows 10 Cloud Hardware Requirements

Windows 10 Cloud is the new edition for Windows 10 with the big difference from regular editions being that it does not have Win32-app support: you can only install apps that are available in the Windows Store. Microsoft says this change allows it to greatly improve and enhance the security of the OS. Win32 apps converted using Project Centennial (Desktop app converter tool) may run on Windows 10 Cloud though.

Microsoft to hold a Windows Cloud-focused event in May 2017

Microsoft was expected to hold a Surface-centered event this April: originally, rumors suggested that we may see the mysterious Surface Phone for the first time, but later that plan was abandoned; the event should've been a place where Microsoft was going to announce new Surface tablets and notebooks. But it seems like this plan has changed too. Microsoft still hasn't said anything about it to the press, but thanks to the new report from ZDnet we now know, that the company will hold a different event about Windows 10 Cloud a few days before Build 2017 starts in early May. Office App Tiles with Store Links in Windows 10 Redstone 3

As you may already know, Microsoft released Windows 10 Build 16170 to the Fast Ring of updates for the Windows Insider program. While this build doesn't come with new features, an interesting change can be spotted right in the Start menu.

Windows 10 Cloud will run Win32 apps, but…

The new Windows 10 Cloud edition is no secret for anyone these days. Designed as the replacement for the Windows RT product, an early version of Windows 10 Cloud already comes locked down so only UWP apps from the Store will run.
