Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22504 available in the Dev channel

Microsoft today released a new Windows 11 build to Insiders in the Dev channel. The key changes include touch keyboard theme support for other flyouts like voice input and emoji panel, the ability to colorize individual faces for "family" emoji, and a few more minor but useful improvements.

Microsoft has released Windows App SDK 1.0

Kevin Gallo, corporate vice president of Windows Developer Platform, announced the release of the Windows App SDK 1.0 (Project Reunion) on Twitter. Note that the stable version of the package was released without any additional announcements. We assume that the initial release is supposed to come along with the release of Visual Studio 2022 and .NET 6.

Google extended Chrome support for Windows 7 once again, now until 2023

Initially, Google planned to end Chrome support on now-deceased Windows 7 in July 2021. Later, the company changed its mind and granted the browser another six months of support. Now Google is extending Windows 7 support again. This time, by a year.

Microsoft Edge is getting Citations and Find on page feature improvements

Microsoft is actively working on improving the recently introduced Citations feature in its Edge browser. It now has its own flyout. Besides this change, you will find a few improvements to the Find on page feature. Specially, it can form "related matches" and can help you search more efficiently.

Windows 10 on ARM will not get x64 emulation support

In December 2020, Microsoft announced x64 apps emulation support for Windows 10 on ARM devices running preview builds from the Windows Insider program. Previously, Windows 10 on ARM supported only x86 emulation, a big downer for many users looking to get an ARM-based computer with Windows 10. x64 apps support brought not only improved compatibility but significant performance uplifts as well.
