Along with Canary, there is also an update in the Dev channel today. It now hosts Windows 11 Build 23545, which disables the controversial auto-open search pane on taskbar hover feature. What's new in Windows 11 Build 23545 (Dev)
New features and improvements
Taskbar search
Microsoft is experimenting with different options for what will happen when you click a button inside the search bar on the taskbar. In some cases, you will be taken to a Bing.com page dedicated to that search query. When you hover your mouse over after a search, a tooltip will always be displayed. The Search window should no longer appear on hover.
