Windows 10 Will Show Notification When PC is Not Ready for Version 1903

As you may remember, Microsoft has postponed public rollout of Windows 10 version 1903 '19H1' on April 4, 2019. By shifting the release from April to May, the company has allotted more time for testing. On May 21, 2019 Microsoft released Windows 10 version 1903 to "seekers". On June 7, 2019 they made it available via the manual update, but there are still situations when Windows 10 version 1903 'May 2019 Update' may be blocked from being installed on your PC.

Due to this, a new feature has landed on Windows 10 via Windows Update. Microsoft has added a notification for users who are checking for updates that clearly shows if their PC is incompatible. Here's how it looks:

Windows 10 Version 1903 1

The text says:

The Windows 10 May 2019 Update is on its way. We’re offering this update to compatible devices, but your device isn’t quite ready for it. Once your device is ready. you’ll see the update available on this page. There’s nothing you need to do at this time.

This change is definitely better than not showing anything at all. Microsoft could further improve the notification by adding a specific reason behind the update block, so the user could take some action, e.g. update drivers or unplug incompatible devices.

If your computer is ready, you’ll see ‘Download and install now’ option.

This means that you had to open Settings >Update & recovery > Windows Update and explicitly confirm your intention to get May 2019 Update by clicking on the "Download and install" link.
