Winaero Tweaker 0.2.4 released

Winaero Tweaker reached yet another milestone in its development cycle. Unfortunately, I was not able to maintain the planned weekly release interval, so this version comes a bit late. Here is Winaero Tweaker 0.2.4 with several new features. Let's see what is new.

In this release, I added the following features to Winaero Tweaker.
Start Menu Blur for Windows 10
I implemented a very simple UI to allow you enable or disable the Aero Glass blur effect behind the Start Menu in the latest public build of Windows 10. You can read more about that effect in the following article: Enable Blur for Start menu and taskbar in Windows 10 build 10074. Here is how it looks in Winaero Tweaker:

Winaero Tweaker - Start Menu Bulr for Windows 10Modern apps closing options
Using these controls, you will be able to speed up closing of Modern apps. These options come from my popular apps "Close Threshold for Windows 8","Close Threshold for Windows 8.1" and "Modern UI Tuner". All these apps are now combined with Winaero Tweaker, so it is getting more and more valuable.
Here is a screenshot:

winaero_tweaker_app_switcher_hoverThe options introduced here will allow you to change the timeout delay of the Switcher, that tiny thumbnail in the top left corner of the screen when a Modern app is running in Windows 8.1. It can be set separately for Desktop and the Start screen. More details are here: How to change the Switcher (top left corner) hover timeout delay in Windows 8.1 Update 1.

Charms bar hover timeout delaywinaero_tweaker_charms_hoverUsing these options, you can prevent the Charms bar from accidentally displaying when the mouse pointer goes to the screen corners. Read the following article for more details: How to change the Charms bar hover timeout delay.

That is all that I added in Winaero Tweaker 0.2.4. If you find some bug, feel free to report it. I hope you will find this release useful.

  1. Still no proper DPI support on Windows 8.1 and 10 due to it not using per-monitor DPI scaling :( The workaround is to disable DPI virtualization in the compatibility flags of WinaeroTweaker.exe but this shouldn’t be necessary.

    Please fix this, Sergey!
