MS Office Desktop Apps Are Available For Windows 10 S
As you may remember, in May 2017 Microsoft released Office desktop apps for Windows 10 S "Cloud Edition", but at the time they were only available for the Surface Laptop with Windows 10 S preinstalled. Today, these apps became available for all Windows S devices.

Windows Store Features Office Desktop Apps in Search
Microsoft is going to put their Office desktop apps in the Store in the near future. As of this writing, you can find app links in the Store using search, but they do not work. This should resolve over the next few months running up to the release of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (Redstone 3).

New Zero-day vulnerability is found in Microsoft Word
Microsoft Office has been frequently bashed for its security: a huge number of vulnerabilities were found in the suite of Office apps over the years, and many of them were critical. Microsoft is continuously working on improving the security and stability of Office apps and delivers updates for them as frequently as possible. But it seems not all of the vulnerabilities can be fixed right away. A recent report from a security research firm, FireEye, reveals that users may still be attacked with a simple RTF-file opened in Microsoft Word. January Insider Slow update for Office 2016 on desktop is now available
Microsoft has pushed out the January 2017 update for Office 2016 on desktop (version 7766.2039) for Office Insiders on the Slow ring. New builds bring some interesting features, including real-time email collaboration for Office 365 users.
