A couple of days ago, Microsoft announced a new update for the SwiftKey keyboard. The latest version for Android brings a new integration with Microsoft To-Do for adding new tasks to the service from any other application.
SwiftKey for Android has three ways to add reminders to Microsoft To-Do. Microsoft outlined them in a post on the Tech Community forums.
First, the keyboard now has a new button you can tap to create a new task in Microsoft To-Do. All it takes to make a reminder is a tap and a title. Additionally, you can pick a different list and specify a reminder time.
SwiftKey will also prompt you to create a new task in Microsoft To-Do after copying text. The keyboard will show an “Add Task” button next to the copied text on the toolbar. Tap the button to create a task using the copied text as the title.
Finally, Microsoft added a new machine learning feature to detect when the user intends to do something. The app will analyze the text you enter and offer suggestions to create a reminder in Microsoft To-Do.
It is great to see Microsoft integrating more services into SwiftKey and making it easier for users in the Microsoft ecosystem. What is not great is that the new integration is available only on Android. Moreover, SwiftKey for iOS is a neglected project with unfrequent updates and many missing features. The latest version is now six-month-old, and it still does not support more than two languages.
SwiftKey is not the only product with Microsoft To-Do integration. A couple of months ago, Microsoft released a redesigned Alarms and Clock app for Windows 11 with a new Focus mode. It allows you to create focus sessions to work on specific tasks from Microsoft To-Do. Unfortunately, the app suffers from an annoying bug that signs you out every time you close it.
