Those living in the UK, France, Germany, and Canada, can now buy a dual-screen smartphone from Microsoft called Surface Duo. Until now, this rather unorthodox device was available in the US only.

Surface Duo is a dual-screen device made for productivity-focused people. It allows you to keep two apps on different screens and enjoy more usable space in a relatively compact device. It took Microsoft quite a while to thoroughly bake this smartphone, and as a result, it came out with slightly outdated specs.

Specs

Surface Duo is based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 paired with 6 GB of RAM and either 128 or 256 GB of non-expandable storage. There is an unimpressive simple 11 MP camera with a flash and a 3 577 mAh battery. Despite having rather not-so-impressive specs, Surface Duo offers a beautiful slim design with an extremely satisfying hinge and two excellent AMOLED displays. It works on Android 10, but Microsoft is set to release Android 11 somewhere during the Summer (February cumulative updates arrive today).

Prices

  • In the UK, Surface Duo will set you back 1 349 British Pounds.
  • In France and Germany, it costs 1 549 Euros
  • Its prices is 1 869 CAD in Canada.

It is worth mentioning that Microsoft has cut the Surface Duo’s price tag in the US. It is now available for a much more acceptable $999 instead of $1 399 (base configuration with 128 GB storage). With this change, Surface Duo in Europe is basically two times more expensive than in the US.

You can buy Surface Duo from Microsoft.com in the UK, the USCanadaFrance, and Germany. It is also available in different local retailers. Do note that in Canada, you get free Surface Earbuds when buying from Microsoft.com. This deal will save you $250, which is extra nice. The European variant also comes with bundled wired earphones due to local regulations.
