Windows 10X, the upcoming lightweight operating system version, is delayed again. Microsoft was about to shift it release date to the second half of 2021 from the initially planned first half of 2021. Now, the Redmond firm is not going to release it in 2021, and also considering to kill the project.

Microsoft is changing its plans again for this OS. According to internal sources of petri.com that close to the company, Microsoft will not be shipping Windows 10X this year and the OS as it known today, will likely never arrive. The company moved resources to Windows 10, and now 10X has faded into the background.
Windows 10X is a modern, "lightweight" OS aimed to compete with Chromebooks in the low-end, educational, and enterprise segments. Unlike regular Windows 10, Windows 10X does not support Win32 apps, although Microsoft plans to bring Win32 support in the future. Also, there is no free-form window support. Users can work with either one or two apps simultaneously, similar to how multitasking works on iPadOS. You can read more about all the Windows 10X's known features in this post. There is also a unique tool that allows you to create a custom Windows 10X image for your PC and give it a try.
Windows 10X has been a pretty wild ride so far. This version of Windows should have been released for dual-screen devices, such as Surface Neo. After the latter's initial announcement, Microsoft decided to postpone Surface Neo indefinitely, likely due to different hardships encountered during the Windows 10X development process. Also, Microsoft moved its focus from dual-screen computers to classic devices, such as tablets and laptops. This change has also affected other manufacturers, who planned to release exclusive devices with Windows 10X. For example, Lenovo planned to ship ThinkPad X Fold with Windows 10X, but the company had to switch to regular Windows 10.
Keep in mind that this report is not confirmed yet, and official Microsoft representatives refused to comment on the matter. If Microsoft does not acknowledge yet another delay, treat this information as "rumor."

They should cancel that bs. They need to start focusing on making Windows 10 a desktop OS again. Tried of mobile garbage all over my desktop OS.
I never saw the point of it. Yet another Windows RT attempt. Nobody wants a locked-down container-filled Windows. We’ve already got iOS for that.
Can only agree with the earlier comments. A Windows that can’t run WIndows applications is a waste of ressources. Windows 10 runs on more than a billion devices. Microsoft should stop aping Apple and Google (hint: silly shapes of corners), and give their customers value for money.
