Google Play users noticed a game removed from their downloads

Several Android users have observed that either Google or the developer has removed the Wayward Souls game from their list of downloads. Previously, the game had disappeared from the Google Play Store.

Wayward Souls, which was initially released in 2014 for Android, is a classic RPG that bears resemblance to Secrets of Mana and other nostalgic titles. While it can still be found on other platforms, attempting to access the download page on the Google Play Store now results in a 404 error.

Prior to its removal, the game had garnered a 4.0 rating, along with 10,000 reviews and over 100,000 downloads.

Google often removes apps and games from the Play Store due to concerns regarding malware or other issues. However, it does not seem that the removal of Wayward Souls is related to this particular matter.

Quite possible that the developers themselves opted for the removal, or the game was found to violate Google's development policies or distribution agreements.

A reliable way to save your apps and games from being deleted from the device is to disable the Google Play store app. It is a matter of a few taps, but it leaves you without newer app versions when you really need them. The change makes your app management inconvenient unless you have an alternative app store installed.

Google states that Android users can still use games and apps that have been removed from the store. However, refunds for purchases are only available under specific circumstances, such as when a purchase was made using another individual's account or card.

In the European Union and the United Kingdom, smartphone owners are eligible for a refund within 48 hours of making a purchase.

Therefore, buyers of Wayward Souls will not be eligible for compensation. You can find some extra details in the Reddit thread.
