Microsoft is marking a significant milestone today, April 4, as the company celebrates its 50th anniversary. To honor this half-century of innovation and impact, Microsoft has released a special collection of eight limited-edition Windows wallpapers, each designed to evoke nostalgia and celebrate the company’s rich history.

Last week, Microsoft unveiled the Windows 365 Link mini PC, a lightweight device that exclusively works with the cloud. The device is said to run a "slim Windows OS" that appears to be based on Windows CorePC and is codenamed "NXT . "

During its Surface even, Microsoft introduced a new desktop wallpaper. This is another version of the Bloom wallpaper, which color scheme resembles the Copilot logo. It makes a special emphasis on AI-powered features which are part of the Copilot+ wave of devices.

Microsoft has unveiled their latest "ugly" holiday sweater, paying homage to the iconic "Bliss" wallpaper from Windows XP. This follows previous designs that celebrated Windows 95, Windows XP, Paint, the game "Mine Mines," and the beloved Clippy paperclip.

The Surface Laptop 5 has received exclusive desktop wallpapers. They are actually a recolored version of the default Bloom wallpaper from Windows 11. The device will go on sale in a few days, but you can already download these wallpapers in high resolution. The Platinum and Graphite models have a purple tint in light and dark versions, while the Sage and Sandstone models will have green and orange tints, respectively.
