Microsoft Edge adds Image Creator, Browser Essentials tool, new power profiles, and more

A new blog post on Microsoft's website reveals several new features that the Edge browser now offers its users. Some of them are already familiar to Insiders. The announcement mentions a built-in image editor, an AI-based image creator, the Drop file sharing service, and a new Browser Essentials tool.

The Workspaces feature in Microsoft Edge is available in public preview

Microsoft today announced that the Workspaces feature for the Microsoft Edge browser is now available for public testing. This feature was previously only accessible as a beta version for corporate customers, but now it can be tested by a wider audience.  It's a step towards improving the user experience and providing more collaborative tools for Edge users.

The Split Screen feature has landed in the stable version of Microsoft Edge

The latest stable release of Microsoft Edge has finally received a feature that allows the user to display two web pages side by side within a single tab. Formerly, to achieve a similar layout, users had to move the desired tab to a different window, then use Windows tools to align the two windows side by side. This keeps sidebars, vertical tabs, toolbars and other UI elements visible in each of the windows. They take up significant screen space. The new feature solves that issue.

Microsoft Edge gets support for 16 mouse gestures

Starting in Edge 114, Microsoft Edge has got support for mouse gestures. They will allow you to perform certain actions like page reload, navigation through browsing history, and so on, with a special mouse movement. There are 16 gestures that the user can enable or disable in order to manage the browser with short mouse movements.

Microsoft is about to bring back Mica Acrylic effect to the Edge browser

Some time ago, the beauty of Microsoft Edge on Windows 11 waned as its developers disabled the Mica Acrylic effect in the user interface. However, this may change in the near future. Canary builds of the browser sport a different enhanced style of the browser that fills the document area and its panes with the cool effect.

Microsoft is experimenting with the Close tab button in Edge

To create a better user experience, Microsoft is still experimenting with the Close Tab button position for vertical tabs. Currently, it appears on right for both horizontal and vertical tabs. But for some Canary insiders, it now appears on the left in vertical tabs mode. Also, it may remain always visible when the tab pane is unpinned.
