Microsoft will remove these five features from Edge 117

Over the years, Microsoft has been actively adding new features to the Edge browser. However, users often consider them bloat and not welcome the changes. Despite that, the browser has become overwhelmed with features that only a very small number of users really need and use. So Microsoft now removes features from the browser.

Edge Feature Removal

In Microsoft Edge 117, the following features will disappear.

  • Math Solver
  • Citations
  • Picture Dictionary
  • Grammar Tools
  • Kids Mode

Microsoft explains the removal by optimizing the interaction with end users and simplifying the browser menu. Perhaps the company found the cut-down features not popular with users.

The only question is the removal of the "Kids Mode", which was designed to protect children while browsing the web. This mode includes customizable browser themes and dedicated articles for kids to help them surf the web safely. Also in this mode, Bing Safe Search is enabled by default and strict tracking protection is set. The mode was designed specifically for children aged 5 to 12 years.

Microsoft Edge 117 is currently in beta testing. The release of this version of the browser is scheduled for September 14, 2023.

  1. I have already done sudo apt remove Edge a while ago! ;)

Take my post the right way! I’m joking a little. I think people should use the browser they like. Then whether it’s Firefox, Brave, Edge or whatever, up to them!
