Microsoft details new features coming soon to Edge

In the latest update to Microsoft Edge Roadmap, which is available on the official Edge Insider website, the company revealed new features and capabilities coming soon to the browser. Some of those features are already available in the Dev and Canary channels, while others are yet to arrive in future updates. Here are the most interesting additions on track to come this year. They include PDF, PWA, UI, notifications, and other improvements.

Tab Search is now available in Edge Canary

Not so long ago, Google introduced a new feature called "Tab Search." You can invoke Tab Search using the Ctrl + Shift + A shortcut or a somewhat controversial button next to the window controls in the upper-right corner. Many users complained about how ugly that button is and how it stands out from regular "close," "maximize," and "minimize" buttons. Recently, Chromium developers finally fixed the problem by redesigning the tab search button, which now looks on par with other window controls.

Edge Canary gets the first touch of Windows 11 design

Windows 11, the new operating system from Microsoft due to release somewhere this year, comes with significant design changes, improvements, and, arguably, some downgrades. Apart from updating the UI in Windows, Microsoft is updating designs for other popular apps. Office, for example, received an improved UI in the latest update in the Office Insider program. And although Microsoft did not announce any major redesigns for the Edge browser, it has already received some Windows 11 exclusive UI tweaks.

You can now send a page from Edge Stable to other devices

It appears that Microsoft slowly finishes rolling out a neat feature that allows transferring tabs between devices in the Edge browser. Many users, including us, report seeing a new button in the address bar called "Send this page." Clicking that button reveals a list of devices with Microsoft Edge installed and signed in with your Microsoft Account. Those devices include Windows PCs, Mac, Linux, and mobile devices with Microsoft Edge. In other words, all devices with the latest versions of Microsoft Edge.
