Google released a patch to fix Chrome crashes on Windows and Linux

Last week, a weird bug appeared in Chrome for Windows and Linux. According to numerous complaints from frustrated users, the browser suffered from multiple tabs and extensions crashes; it also showed a gray screen instead of settings and extensions pages. During the weekend, users have been trying different things to bring Chrome back to life. Some advised reinstalling the browser, while others told users to wipe the User Data folder.

You can enable the new Sharing Hub in Google Chrome. It hosts a number of quick actions, including Cast, Generate QR-code, Copy Link, and Save page.

As modern browsers increase the number of built-in features and capabilities, their UIs become more and more cluttered with different buttons and options. Some companies prefer a radical approach to solve this problem by purging redundant UI elements. Interestingly, Google just did the opposite: The company introduced a hub that combines several sharing-related features in a single menu.

Google Chrome receives several improvements to Global Media Controls

At the beginning of the last year, Google rolled out new global media controls (GMC) for its browser, allowing users to manage media playback from a single place. Since then, the company has been actively improving that part of the browser. In addition to the new progress bar for GMC, Google will bring even more enhancements to that feature.

Following Chrome, Edge will default to HTTPS for domains in version 92

Starting in Microsoft Edge 92, the browser will open websites via HTTPS when no protocol specified by the user, i.e. in case when the URL is entered partially. For example, if you type winaero.com into the address bar, it will first load https://winaero.com and not http://winaero.com, as it works in the actual stable Edge version.

This is quite and interesting release of the world's most popular browser, which includes such novelties as an AV1 encoder, the ability to paste read-only files from the clipboard. It also comes with a number of security enhancements, including blocking of the port 554 for HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP servers.
