How to add the Briefcase feature in Windows 10
By default, Windows 10 offers you several data synchronization solutions such as OneDrive which is powered by Microsoft Account, it has one limitation - it is dependent on the Internet. You may or may not know about the old "Briefcase" feature which was removed from recent Windows versions. It offers you simple two way data synchronization which was offline and could be used with removable drives. Someone at Microsoft decided to remove it from the brand new release of Windows 'cause he thought perhaps that the feature was too outdated. If you miss Briefcase, here is a simple solution for you.
Open elevated command prompt from non-elevated instance
In Windows Vista, Microsoft added UAC (User Account Control), which prevents privilege escalation for running apps and requires explicit user confirmation in case the application needs to perform an elevated task. Some console commands also require elevation. So, if you accidentally type such a command in the regular command prompt window, it will fail. You need to open yet another, elevated command prompt instance. Most people don't know how to open an administrator command prompt and it is not easy for them.

Regular Winaero blog readers might be already knowing how to get back the good old Quick Launch toolbar in modern versions of Windows since I've covered it multiple times. Today, I would like to share a tip which will save your time - how to quickly add a new shortcut to the Quick Launch toolbar.

How to stop Windows 10 apps from running in the background
In Windows 10, some apps are always running in the background. Microsoft designed Windows 10 to run apps constantly to provide notifications to users and keep those apps updated with content that they fetch from the internet. There are plenty of users who never use the Store apps, but they still run in the background and consume system resources. Let's see how to stop them and free system resources.
How to make Windows 10 show familiar desktop icons
In earlier Windows versions, the Desktop had important icons enabled by default - My Computer (which is now known as This PC), Network, My Documents were all visible by default. However, in modern Windows versions, Microsoft made most of these icons hidden. In Windows 10, only the Recycle Bin is present on Desktop by default. Also, the Windows 10 Start Menu does not have links to these icons either. Let's see how to add the classic icons back to the Desktop in Windows 10.
