The FTC's antitrust case against Microsoft and Activision Blizzard has resulted in more internal documents leaking online, revealing confidential information. One leaked document is about the updated Xbox Series X console, code-named "Brooklin," which will have a cylindrical design.
The unique look distinguishes it from the original Xbox Series X. It will also have slightly different technical specifications, including support for Wi-Fi 6E, a USB-C port, 2 TB internal storage, and a new standby mode with lower power consumption. However, it will not have a disc drive.
The price is expected to remain the same at $499, and sales are due to begin in November 2024.
The new Xbox Series X promises to offer 4K Gen9 console gaming, increased internal storage, faster Wi-Fi, lower power consumption, and a more comfortable controller.
In addition, Microsoft is working on a new "immersive controller" called "Sebile," which will support direct connection to the cloud and Xbox Wireless 2 and Bluetooth 5.2 protocols.
In other news, Sony is also working on updated PlayStation 5 models. Those include a PlayStation 5 Slim with a removable disk drive, and a PlayStation 5 Pro with almost twice the performance of the original PS5.
