Xbox PC app introduces compact mode, useful for portable consoles

Microsoft has introduced a new compact mode in the user interface for the Xbox PC app, specifically designed for Windows portable gaming devices. It is the same update that was initially rolled out to Xbox Insiders in late October and is compatible with devices like Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, as well as other portable PCs.

Xbox App Compact Mode

In this new Compact mode, the sidebar is condensed into icons, providing users with more screen space to view content. To activate this mode, users simply need to click on the profile icon located in the top left corner of the application and switch to compact mode.

Microsoft is collaborating with laptop manufacturers to ensure that compact mode becomes a default feature on portable devices in the future.

The update also includes the option to display only unread notifications in the list. Additionally, a game services repair tool has been introduced, which can fix certain issues with the Xbox PC app. Access to this tool is available by clicking on the profile icon and selecting the "Support" option.

By adding specific games to their wishlist, users will receive notifications when those titles participate in free play days.

Furthermore, the update offers support for physical and virtual keyboards in Japanese. To address existing bugs, Microsoft has released a firmware update for Xbox controllers.

The official announcement is here.
