The team behind the Thunderbird email app has released version 78.4.1. This is a maintenance release with a number of important fixes. Also, there is a new minor feature that changes how Thunderbird works with an Address book entry with multiply email addresses.
Thunderbird is my preferred email client of choice. I use this app on every PC and on every operating system I use. It is stable, contains all the features you need, supports add-ons and also comes with a useful RSS reader. I am using Thunderbird for many years and never felt the need to look for an alternative.
Thunderbird 78 doesn't support classic XUL add-ons any more, but includes some of their features natively. E.g. on Windows you can minimize the app to the system tray.

Advertisеment
Froze mine at 68 because none of my calenders will stay visible.
I’ve included instructions to disable updates in this post.
You can go here “https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/” and download whatever version you want.
On 78, every single time I start TB I have to hide and unhide every calender to make it visible again. All the data is there, they sync fine, they just won’t show.
PS RSS is still not working for this website.
To disable updates in Thunderbird…
Exit Thunderbird.
Type ‘Run’ in search and select ‘Run’ app
In ‘Run’ app type regedit and click on Ok
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies
Create new subkey called ‘Mozilla’
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Mozilla
Then create new subkey called ‘Thunderbird’
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Thunderbird
On the right, create a new 32-Bit DWORD value DisableAppUpdate.
Note: Even if you are running 64-bit Windows you must still create a 32-bit DWORD value.
Set its value to 1.
Start Thunderbird
Menu icon > Options > Options > Advanced > ‘Updates’ tab Thunderbird updates – It will state current version number. Options are removed and replaced by: ‘Updates disabled by your system administrator’
