Smart App Control is a new security feature of Windows 11

The latest build of Windows 11 adds a new security feature called Smart App Control (SAC). SAC will automatically analyze new apps you install and protect you against potentially dangerous software.

Windows 11 Smart App Control SAC

Sounds not bad at a glance. However, Microsoft didn't share anything on how it will detect such apps. Perhaps there will be a risk when SAC will flag and block new apps unknown to it. It may become an issue for developers unless Microsoft disclose some criteria SAC is using.

However, you are not forced to live with SAC enabled as of now. It requires you to perform a clean install or reset your PC to enable it.

Also, SAC starts its works in evaluation mode. This actually means that it will study what apps you use and how they behave. This will allow SAC to better "understand" if it can help you with protecting your virtual space.

Once it collect enough data, it will become enabled. Otherwise, it will automatically turn off. Users can also manually enable SAC in evaluation mode in the Windows Security app under Application/Browser Control.

Besides Smart App Control, Windows 11 has got support for payment processing. It can now store your credit card information and use it to simplify payments for Microsoft 365 subscription.
