What's new in Skype 8.68

Updated reaction picker

According to Microsoft, you can now “react harder” to messages you receive on Skype. Developers updated the custom reaction picker, so it now includes more personalized reactions. Updated reaction picker is available on desktop (Windows and Linux), web, and mobile versions of Skype (iOS and Android).

Blurred Background

If you want to hide what is happening around you, Skype for Android 8.68 now allows blurring your background during video calls. Previously, this feature was available on iOS only, but now Android users can also enjoy using it. You can find how to blur the background during video calls here.

Updated Share Extension

On iPhone and iPad, the Share extension now supports a dark theme. Also, it received a couple of fixes and minor improvements to improve overall performance.

Bug fixes

Just like with any other update, Skype 8.68 brings a bunch of bug fixes. Microsoft says the developers fixed broken virtual cameras on macOS, missing sound in voice messages, and improved the performance of the Emoji picker.

Microsoft also notes that the new features are rolling out gradually. This means they are not available to every user right away. If your Skype client lacks described above features, check for the updates in a day or two.
