Microsoft plans to keep Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard games available on PlayStation consoles. This won't change even after the deal is closed and all existing agreements have ended. This was announced by company president Brad Smith in a blog post.
To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation through the term of any existing agreement with Activision. And we have committed to Sony that we will also make them available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love. We are also interested in taking similar steps to support Nintendo’s successful platform. We believe this is the right thing for the industry, for gamers and for our business.
This iapproach is different from what Microsoft has chosen for ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks. The company continues to honor all contractual obligations to release temporary exclusives such as Deathloop, but future games, including Starfield, will be Xbox and PC exclusives.
The deal to acquire Activision Blizzard is expected to close before the end of June 2023.
