Microsoft revealed redesigned Paint coming soon to Windows Insiders

We already know that Microsoft plans to redesign many of the Windows 11 stock apps. One of the apps to receive modern UI and refreshed looks is the classic Paint. Microsoft has already teased the app in several stock apps, and now Panos Panay himself published a video with the redesigned Paint for Windows 11.

The new Paint for Windows 11 will remain the same classic old app everyone loves with just a few modern touches. Microsoft plans to equip Paint with dark theme support, redesigned ribbons, new controls, and other visual changes.

Also, Microsoft is ditching the "Open in Paint 3D" button, as the latter clearly failed to gain traction, not to mention to replace the immortal classic.

Paint in Windows does not offer many tools or fancy features you can find in other image editors for Windows, but simplicity and accessibility make Paint everyone's favorite drawing app. With Windows 11 looming over the horizon, the classic Paint will become even better without losing what everyone likes about it.

Microsoft does not say when the redesigned Paint will be available to Windows Insiders, but it is safe to say that you should not wait long to get your hands on the app. Previously, Panos Panay teased the upcoming updates for Snipping Tool and the Alarms and Clocks app. Although the latter is not available yet, Windows Insiders already have access to the redesigned Snipping Tool.

It is great to see Microsoft updating stock apps in Windows 11 with new UIs and more consistency. Still, many default programs desperately need some love from developers. Mail, Calendar, Groove Music, Photos, and other stock apps sit tight without major updates for quite a long time. Perhaps, Windows 11 will finally bring something new to those programs.
