Microsoft releases Dev Home Preview 0.2 app update with several improvements

A new version of the Dev Home app, "Preview 0.2", is available on the Microsoft Store. Updates include a WinGet YAML configuration file for NodeJS, a loading progress ring for widgets, antialiasing for system widget graphs, support for Arm64 devices, and a repository cloning tool that displays previously cloned repositories.

The Dev Home app is a recently developed tool that simplifies the process of configuring a device for use as a developer workspace. This app enables users to establish a connection with GitHub, adjust basic settings, utilize the WinGet configuration for automatic downloading of developer tools and programs, and create a dedicated disk partition with the ReFS file system using the Dev Drive feature. The Dev Home app Preview is currently accessible for download on the Microsoft Store. Alternatively, you can get it from GitHub.

Dev Home Preview 0.2 comes with the following changes.

  • A WinGet YAML configuration file for NodeJS has been added to the repository.
  • The dashboard now displays a loading progress ring while loading widgets .
  • System widget graphs now use antialiasing for a smoother appearance.
  • Core widgets now work on Arm64 devices.
  • The repository cloning tool now shows you repositories you’ve previously cloned.

Besides, the changelog highlights several fixes. It resolves bugs related to theme switching, app installation, and background contrast. Also, the add widget dialogs now dynamically size with the window, ensuring all buttons are clickable.
