Microsoft released a new Entertainment widget for Windows 11

Without much fanfare, Microsoft released a new version of Windows Web Experience Pack that manages various online features in Windows 11 and Windows 10. Version 421.18601.0.0 is now available to Windows insiders running the latest build of Windows 11. While Microsoft does not offer any changelog or details about what is new in a new Windows Web Experience Pack, users quickly noticed that it bring one new widget to Windows 11 called "Entertainment."

Unlike other widgets in Windows 11, the new one does not offer much. In fact, it is more like an ad-banner for promoting different movies from the Microsoft Store. Besides being virtually useless (unless you want Microsoft to recommend you what to watch next), the Entertainment widget comes in only one size.

To check out the latest Entertainment widget in Windows 11, go to the Microsoft Store and check for updates. Speaking preciously, the package responsible for the new widget is Windows Web Experience Pack, which includes it in version 421.18601.0.0.

After installing available updates, click the widgets button next to the Start menu and select Add Widgets > Entertainment. After that, you can place the Entertainment widget anywhere on the widgets screen.

Windows 11 Entertainment Widget

Widgets in Windows 11 "live" in a separate space that you can bring on to the screen using the Widgets button on the taskbar, the Win + W shortcut, or a swipe from the left edge on computers with a touch screen. As of now, Windows Widgets in Windows 11 only support first-party options, such as Outlook Calendar, Weather, To-Do, OneDrive Photos, Stocks, Sports, Traffic, etc. Almost all Windows 11 widgets support various sizes; that makes them feel like the next version of now-deceased Live Tiles. Microsoft says that it plans to add third-party widgets support in Windows 11 somewhere in the future, but if you do not like widgets, you can disable the Windows Widgets button altogether.
