Microsoft has fixed Pen issues in the Edge browser

Earlier this month, Microsoft Edge users started reporting issues using digital pens (styluses like Surface Pen or similar) in the browser. The official Microsoft Edge Dev account confirmed the problem and notified users that the necessary patches are already available in the Canary and Beta channels. A few days later, Microsoft started rolling out the bug fix for all users in the stable channel.

Fix Pen not working in Microsoft Edge

To solve the problem with broken styluses in Microsoft Edge, the company recommends users updating their browsers to Edge version 94.0.992.47 or later. Microsoft Edge downloads and installs updates automatically, but you can force-update the browser by navigating to edge://settings/help. Once Edge downloads available updates, press the Restart button to apply patches.

The update should now be available to all users of Microsoft Edge Stable. If your computer does not display the update, try again in a couple of hours. Meanwhile, you can restart the browser several times to temporarily fix the non-working Pen in Microsoft Edge.

If you use Microsoft Edge Dev to test weekly updates and new features, you need to wait for the next build to fix issues with styluses in the browser. Microsoft says a corresponding update for Edge Dev should land somewhere this week.

Recent new features and changes in Microsoft Edge

In case you missed it, Microsoft recently introduced a built-in Microsoft Editor extension for the Edge browser. That means users can now access advanced spelling and grammar corrections and suggestions without installing additional extensions. Unfortunately, the built-in Microsoft Editor for Edge is currently available for users in the US only (with the English set as the primary language).

Besides an improved spellchecker, Microsoft Edge received a significantly reworked page for managing web apps. You can learn more about that in our dedicated post.
