Recently, Microsoft made their newest Chromium-based Edge browser available for Windows versions other than Windows 10. The company has released the Canary branch version for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. Today, the Dev branch is also became available to users of older Windows version.

The official announcement states
Today we released the Dev channel for previous versions of Windows, now available in addition to the Canary channel released last week. You can download both from the Microsoft Edge Insider website. Give it a try and let us know what you think using the “Send feedback” smiley, the Microsoft Edge Insider forums, or by reaching out on Twitter.
Microsoft Edge Chromium for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 supports almost all the features that are available on Windows 10 and Mac. Edge Dev is updated weekly; they come out on Tuesdays. The Edge Beta channel which receives updates every six weeks should become available for the older operating systems soon.
At the moment of this writing, the latest Microsoft Edge Chromium versions are as follows.
- Beta Channel: 76.0.182.11
- Dev Channel: 77.0.197.1
- Canary Channel: 77.0.202.0
