Kaby Lake G, released in 2018, is one of the weirdest modern processors from Intel. In a nutshell, Kaby Lake G is a quirky fusion of two rivaling camps: Intel and AMD. The product offers a mobile 8th gen CPU from Intel and the RX Vega M graphics from AMD. The idea behind the project was to provide gamers with a CPU that sports significantly more powerful graphics than standard iGPU in Intel processors of that time.
Unfortunately, the cutting-edge mix of the two companies was nothing more than an experiment. In 2019, Intel killed the project and changed its focus to building its own powerful graphics. Still, Intel and AMD continue providing support to Kaby Lake G-based computers. Two months after the Windows 11 release, users can finally download a Windows 11-compatible GPU driver for Kaby Lake G processors.
Kaby Lake G-processors GPU driver for Windows 11
The latest driver for the GPU inside Kaby Lake G processors is based on AMD's Adrenalin 21.10.2 driver. It contains optimizations for Windows 11 and various improvements for new games. Here is the full changelog:
- Announced Windows 11 support in Adrenalin release notes.
- Additional 21.30 feature improvements/additions delivered in this release: One Click & Auto overclocking and PlayReady HWDRM CBCS for H264/HEVC.
- Driver optimizations to support following games: Metro Exodus – Enhanced Edition (DX12 – RT only), Resident Evil Village (DX12), Far Cry 6 (DX12), Naraka: Bladepoint (DX11), PUBG DX12, Battlefield 2042 (DX12) Open Beta, Windows 11 RTW.
You can download driver 21.30.25.01 for systems with Kaby Lake G processors from the official website. For reference, the Kaby Lake G processor family includes the following models:
- Intel Core i7-8706G,
- Intel Core i7-8709G,
- Intel Core i7-8809G,
- Intel Core i7-8705G,
- and Intel Core i5-8305G.
Windows 11 officially supports all those CPUs, so now users can upgrade their systems and install the latest GPU driver with improvements and optimizations.
