How to Change Swipe Actions for Windows 10 Mail Notification
When you receive a new e-mail in Windows 10, the Mail app displays a notification, that briefly remains visible on the screen, then goes to the Action Center. By default, it allows to 'flag', or 'archive' the message. Also, if you right swipe on the notification, the message will be archived, and the left swipe allows you to set or clear a flag for the message. You might want to customize these actions. For example, you can set 'Mark as read/unread' and 'Delete' as your default swipe actions for Mail app notifications.
Windows 10 includes a pre-installed app, 'Mail and Calendar'. The app is intended to provide basic email and calendar functionality to Windows 10 users. It supports multiple accounts, comes with preset settings to quickly add mail accounts from popular services, and includes all the essential functionality to read, send and receive emails.

The Mail app allows taking notes on pictures or adding a drawing using a pen or your finger. Go to the Draw tab in the ribbon to get started.
- Insert a Drawing Canvas from the ribbon anywhere in your email to add a sketch.
- Annotate any picture by drawing on or next to it.
- Use ink effects like galaxy, rainbow, and rose gold colored pens.
Also, the Mail app comes with the ability to customize the app's background image, as described in the post Change Mail App Background to Custom Color in Windows 10.
When you receive a new email, you see a notification.
By default, the notification includes the 'Set flag' and 'Archive' actions. Also, you can
- swipe right to set or clear a flag
- swipe left to archive the email message you received.
If you are not happy with these defaults, you can change them to something that is more convenient for you.
To Change Swipe Actions for Windows 10 Mail Notification,
- Open the Mail app. You can find it in the Start menu. Tip: To save your time, use the alphabet navigation to quickly get to the Mail app.
- In the Mail app, click the gear icon to open its Settings pane. See the screenshot below.
- In app settings, click on Message list.
- Under Swipe actions, select the desired action for the Right swipe/hover option.

In the example below, I've changed the actions to 'Mark read/unread' and 'Delete', respectively. Now I can to swipe right to mark the incoming message read, or swipe left to instantly get rid of it. Or I can click on the appropriate buttons.
