KB5022360 is now available for stable Windows 11 22H2, build 22621.1194

Microsoft has released its a new optional "Preview" patch KB5022360 for stable Windows 11 version 22H2. The update raises the OS version to build 22621.1194 and comes with several fixes. It resolves issues searchindexer.exe, including image search from the taskbar. Also, it fixes a bug that makes the PC enter sleep mode when a game controller is connected.

Windows 11 Beta build 22623.1245/22621.1245 (KB5022358) fixes Task Manager and RDP

Microsoft has released new Windows 11 version 22H2 builds  22621.1245 and 22623.1245. They are available via the KB5022358 update to Insiders on the Beta channel. They traditionally follow the new feature shipping pattern:

  • Build  22623.1245  - New feature testing available.
  • Build  22621.1245  - New features disabled by default.

Windows 11 will soon allow reinstalling the installed build from Windows Update

With Windows 11 build 25284, the operating system has got a new feature. Dubbed as "Fix problems using Windows Update", it will allow you to reinstall the currently installed build without an installation media. It will perform in-place upgrade using files from Windows Update.

Microsoft has announced the availability of Windows Terminal 1.17 in Preview. The app has got several new customization options. Now you can customize the profile drop-down menu and add there your own folders and even submenu. Additionally, it is now easy to restart a process that finished its work in a Terminal tab. Terminal Preview 1.17 supports Mica for its window, so it looks more stylish and consistent.

Windows 11 will soon allow to install it on ReFS instead of NTFS

Microsoft is working on enabling ReFS in the OS setup program, so Windows 11 will be able to format the drive to the latest file system and run from it. The feature is currently a work-in-progress and is hidden. However, enthusiasts have found a way to activate it, and even managed to install Windows 11 on ReFS.

Windows 11 is getting an updated Product key dialog

Microsoft continues to refresh the appearance of aged dialogs in Windows 11. Some of them have not changed since Windows 8, some retain their look from Windows 10. The company's goal is to make the newest OS look consistent by following its Fluent Design guidelines. In Windows 11 Build 25281 you will find an updated "Enter a product key" dialog, thought you have to apply extra efforts to see it.

Windows 11 is getting a new Volume Mixer that exposes audio apps

Microsoft is working on a new Volume flyout for Windows 11 that allows directly adjusting the sound volume level for each of the apps individually. It reminds of the popular EarTrumpet app, but is integrated in the Quick Access feature. It is a work in progress, so doesn't appear by default. But you can enable it easily.
