Users claim Windows updates hijack settings in third-party browsers

Whenever Microsoft pushes a new cumulative update for Windows, users wonder what that update will break this time. We need to give it to Microsoft: cumulative updates nowadays are much more stable than several years ago. Stability is no longer the primary concern. However, users on Reddit accused Microsoft of messing with third-party browsers using updates for Windows 11. According to them, Microsoft now has a new way to annoy users: settings hijacking.

Microsoft restored the ncpa.cpl command in Windows 11

One of the recent Windows 11 dev builds removed the option to open the legacy "Network Connection" UI found in Control Panel. Instead of launching the classic UI, the ncpa.cpl command was redirecting users to the modern Settings app and its "Network & Internet" section. In a somewhat unexpected move, Microsoft restored the ability to launch "Network Connection" using the ncpa.cpl command.

Windows 11 will soon let you manage subscriptions from the Settings app

In October 2021, Microsoft released a preview build of Windows 11 with one notable change: a new section in the Settings app where users can view and manage subscriptions, such as Microsoft 365, Xbox Game Pass, and others.
