During the Windows 11 unveil event, Microsoft announced a host of new gaming improvements coming with "the next generation" of Windows. One of those improvements is DirectStorage API - a special set of instructions that significantly improves loading time on computers with DirectX 12-compatible GPUs and NVMe SSDs.

While the most exciting stuff in the Windows world is happening around Windows 11, Microsoft is committed to supporting users on Windows 10. According to Microsoft, more than 1.3 billion monthly active devices are running Windows 10. Due to peculiar Windows 11 hardware requirements, not all Windows 10 users will get a chance to update to the next version of Windows. That means Microsoft needs to continue providing support in form of regular updates and patches for Windows 10. On its official Windows Blog, Microsoft announced the next feature update for Windows 10, 21H2.

Today's Patch Tuesday traditionally brings updates for all supported releases of Windows 10. Versions 21h1, 20h2, and 2004 share the KB5004237 update due to their unified code base.  Other Windows release that receive the updates are 1909,1809, 1607, and 1507.

Microsoft has releases a new out of band patch KB5004945 to users running Windows 10 21H1, 20H2 and 2004. After installing it, you will have the following versions: Windows 10 2004 = 19041.1083, 20H2 = 19042.1083 and 21H1 = 19043.1083.
