Android 12L is finally released for Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2

Android12l Surface Update

Microsoft's Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2 foldable smartphones are finally receiving the long-awaited Android 12L-based firmware update. The new system update comes with an updated notification shade UI, Settings app, and other system components. Everything now has Fluent Design and feels more like Windows 11.

There's also a new pen menu that appears when you press a button on the Surface Slim Pen 2. The menu works the same as it does in Windows 11 and gives you quick access to up to four apps of your choice. This menu also includes the pen's battery percentage.

All the key improvements added to Android 12L are also present in the new Surface Duo firmware update. You can now set the system accent color based on the selected desktop wallpaper. The OS shows microphone and camera usage indicators, and more.

But the taskbar introduced in Android 12L is not available on the Surface Duo.

The size of firmware is really huge, that is 2.6GB for Surface Duo, and 3,2 GB for Surface Duo 2.
