The Ability To Buy Hardware is Coming To Windows Store

As you may already know, the Windows Store app is going to be renamed soon as Microsoft Store. Currently, users can download apps, games, books, movies, and TV shows using the Store app. Microsoft will soon enable the ability to buy hardware from the Microsoft Store app in Windows 10.

With a future update, you will also be able to buy hardware and device accessories right from the online Microsoft Store app. Devices will include Microsoft Surface, Xbox consoles, Windows Phones, laptops and tablets with Windows 10 pre-installed, and so on. There will be a number of third-party devices like the Fitbit fitness trackers and smart watches. As of this writing, Microsoft has enabled this feature on Xbox One for Insiders.

Buying or pre-ordering hardware or an accessory from the Microsoft Store app will require you to verify your account using Windows Hello first. Once verified, the Microsoft Store will take you to the order page within the app. It looks (and works) very similar to the purchasing experience on the online Microsoft Store website. The ability to buy hardware is not enabled for PCs yet.

For Windows users, this change gives them access to all the latest hardware and products from Microsoft's partners. It is not known yet when the new feature will be introduced to the stable branch of Windows 10. It might become available along with the Fall Creators Update, which is set to release on October 17, 2017.
