Xbox has introduced a new system of bans based on strikes

Microsoft has announced a new system of punishments for Xbox players who violate the rules of conduct on the platform. Xbox Enforcement Strike will issue warnings to players for various types of inappropriate activity, such as foul language, cheating, harassment, bullying, or hate speech.

The number of warnings issued will depend on the severity of the particular violation. For example, profanity or cheating will result in one warning, harassment or bullying players will receive two, and hate speech will receive three.

A player who receives two warnings will not be able to use online features for one day. If four warnings are received, the ban will be valid for seven days. And finally, if the player has accumulated eight warnings, then access to online services will be closed for a year.

Strikes

It is worth noting that warnings expire six months after they are received. Players can view the violation history on their profile and appeal any restrictions that have been placed. Xbox Enforcement Strike is enabled starting on August 15. Now all players have no warnings, that is, everyone starts from scratch.

Microsoft claims that the goal of the new system is to increase safety and respect in the Xbox community. Players will also get a chance to correct their behavior. The Xbox Code of Conduct remains unchanged and applies to all Xbox games and services.

According to Dave McCarthy, vice president of Xbox Player Services, the company is forced to apply some kind of sanctions to about 1% of players, and only a third of this percentage are re-banned.

Most of the restrictions will not apply to single player games and purchased content. However, Microsoft reserves the right to permanently ban an account for serious violations of the Xbox Code of Conduct.
