Xbox consoles are getting a new Home experience

Users in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings can now preview an updated version of the Xbox Home experience. This version strives to balance experience, accessibility, and functionality, and was created with user feedback in mind.

New Xbox Home Dashboard

Microsoft created several hundred variations, fine-tuning them through prototypes and user testing in research labs before finding a variation that they hope users will love. The company highlights the following key changes.

This new version of Home:

  1. Provides easy navigation to your library, the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, search, and settings at the very top of your Home by introducing a new quick access menu.
  1. Simplifies the layout and makes more space for you to see your background by reducing the size of some of the tiles and moving them to the bottom of the screen.
  1. Adds a responsive game art feature to update the default background and show off the beautiful art associated with each title when you hover over the tiles.

The latest version of the Xbox Home experience features smaller game and app tiles that have been relocated to the bottom of the screen. This change provides more space to showcase background images, and each game tile now displays an image that corresponds to the game.

Additionally, a floating panel has been added to the top of the dashboard, offering quick access to the game and app library, Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass catalog, search, and system settings.
