Windows 10 21H1 is now available to everyone

Microsoft has updated the official documentation for Windows 10 21H1, notifying users about the status change for the most recent version of Windows 10. According to Microsoft, Windows 10 21H1 (May 2021 Update) is now available to everyone (broad deployment).

Microsoft released Windows 10 21H1 in May 2021. It was a small enablement package to activate hidden features in Windows 10 2004 and 20H2. The enablement package makes it possible to download and install a "feature update" much faster. Overall, it feels like a regular cumulative update Windows users receive every month.

Windows 10 21H2 was previously available only for "seekers" - those who actively push the "Check for Updates" button in Windows Update. Now Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 21H2 to everyone running older Windows versions (unless there are no known issues applicable to the target system).

Note that computers with Windows 10 1909 and older need to download a full new Windows build to install version 21H1. That process will take much longer when compared to upgrading 2004/20H2 to 21H1.

When it comes to new features, Windows 10 21H1 does not bring much. The most notable change in Windows 10 21H1 is the ability to connect a second Windows Hello-compatible for biometric authentication. Other than that, Windows 10 21H1 contains nothing exciting. All the new stuff Microsoft now offers in Windows 11.

In case you missed it, Microsoft recently decided to increase the Windows 11 rollout scope. More users with compatible hardware can now get Windows 11 via Windows Update. According to the latest report from Adduplex, Windows 11 managed to gain almost 5% of the market during October 2021. Windows 10 21H1, meanwhile, holds the title of the most popular Windows version in the world with 37.6%.
