Microsoft Edge is getting User-initiated Search for Autofill

Microsoft is expanding the autofill feature in the Edge browser with the ability to find the required data from the saved form information. This option will allow the user to force insert the autofill data if the browser fails to recognize a form on a page. This is really useful and time saving.

Each time you enter some credentials for a website, Microsoft Edge asks you to save them. The next time you open the same web site, your browser will auto-fill the saved credentials. The same works for other web form data. The browser can remember your name, your surname, addresses, and much more. For individual websites Edge may remember their unique form data you have previously entered.

However, the above just doesn't work if Edge fails to recognize a form on a website. The page can have a complex markup or some dynamic form fields that can confuse the form autofill alorithm.

Today, if you have your information saved on Microsoft Edge, autofill suggestions pop up automatically and help you save time while filling out forms. but in cases where autofill misses a form, or if you want to fetch that data in forms that don't typically have autofill (like temporary forms) - you can explicitly search for your information and fill it easily.

Microsoft is expecting to include it in the stable Edge release in April 2021. However, some Insiders already see its early implementation. It is available in Dev and Canary versions of the browser. Here is how it works

If you are an Insider in the Dev or Canary channel of the Edge browser, ensure that you have the latest browser build, and check it out on some web form. There is a chance that this useful feature is already available for you.
