The Surf game is now available in Edge Canary on Android

In May 2020, Microsoft announced a new built-in game for its Chromium-based Edge browser. In the Surf game, users have a chance to ride a surfboard using different characters, pick up boosters, avoid obstacles, and set high scores. Users can play the game without an Internet connection or just kill some time by visiting the edge://surf link. Google Chrome has a similar built-in game, called Dino, although it is much more primitive when compared to Surf.

Until today, the Surface game was exclusive to Edge on desktop platforms. Now it is available on mobile devices as well. The official Microsoft Edge Twitter account today announced Surf for Android smartphones. To try the game, download Microsoft Edge Canary from the Google Play Store. If you already test the browser on Android, update it to version 95.0.1002.0 or higher, then open edge://surf.

As of now, Edge Surf is available only on desktops and Android smartphones. Microsoft does not comment on when the game will make it to the iOS version of the browser.

Note that it is not the best idea to use Edge Canary as your primary browser on a computer or smartphone. Microsoft uses the Canary channel to test daily updates with early changes and new features that often contain bugs and instabilities. If you want to try out preview versions of Edge without risking encountering bugs, use slightly more stable Dev or Beta channels. Both are available on Windows, macOS, and Android. On iOS, though, early versions of Microsoft Edge are available only after receiving an invitation from developers. For now, the testing program is full, and Microsoft does not accept new participants.
