Telegram now supports Snap Layouts in Windows 11

Telegram Snap Layouts

Pavel Durov's Telegram Messenger today received a new update on Windows. Version 3.4.8 is now available to all users who installed the messenger from its official website. Later on, the same update will arrive in the Microsoft Store.

Telegram 3.4.8 for Windows is not a regular feature-packed update the messenger receives every month or two. Instead of cross-platform features and capabilities, it focuses on Windows, specifically Windows 11.

Snap Layouts in Telegram on Windows 11

The main highlight of Telegram 3.4.8 is Snap Layouts support in Windows 11. You can now hover the cursor over the maximize button to create a new window layout with just a couple of clicks. Alternatively, you can press Win + Z to show the available configurations.

Windows 11 tailors Snap Layouts to specific screens and monitors, which means some users have access to additional windows stacking variants. For example, you can stack windows from top to bottom on portrait monitors. Also, Snap Layouts support three side-by-side windows on big screens with high resolution.

You can download Telegram for Windows from the official website. The same app is also available in the Microsoft Store. The only difference is that the store app gets updates with a delay due to the additional certification process.

Microsoft introduced the Snap Layouts feature last year, and it is available only on Windows 11 (do not expect it to come to Windows 10). Most apps support Snap Layouts right away and do not require additional optimizations.

Still, many programs do not work with Snap Layouts. For example, Mozilla and Telegram had to update their apps to support Snap Layouts. The good thing is that many popular apps have already received updates to enable Snap Layouts in Windows 11.

Developers can learn more about implementing Snap Layouts for apps in Windows 11 using the official documentation from Microsoft.
