Surface Studio 2 gets April firmware update with stability improvements

Shortly after releasing a fresh firmware update for Surface Book 2 this month, Microsoft shipped another batch of patches and improvements. This time, the firmware update is available for the second-gen Surface Studio.

Surface Studio 2 is a 28" all-in-one released in October 2018. The computer comes with 7th gen Intel Core i7, has either 16 or 32 GB of RAM and Nvidia GTX 1060 or 1070. Surface Studio is built with the most outdated hardware, yet Microsoft still sells it for a whopping $3500.

The April update for Surface Studio 2 does not offer much. This release primarily focuses on improving system security and stability.

Microsoft says there are no known issues with the April firmware updates for Surface Studio 2.

As usual, all Surface firmware updates for modern and supported devices are available for computers with Windows 10 1903 and above. To download Surface updates, head to Windows Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update. You can also install available patches manually using the official Surface Firmware website.

According to Microsoft, Surface Studio 2 will keep getting new updates and software support until October 2, 2024. Microsoft guarantees at least four years of support for every modern Surface, but some models got a significantly longer lifecycle. For example, Surface Pro 3, released in June 2014, will continue receiving updates from Microsoft until November 13, 2021.
