Surface Pro 8 LTE received January 2022 firmware update

A couple of days ago, Microsoft released a new firmware update for its latest generation of the Surface Pro tablet. A fresh set of fixes and improvements is now available for LTE-based Surface Pro 8 models Microsoft released in late 2021. Here are the changes and improvements in January 2022 firmware update for Surface Pro 8 with LTE.

Although the documentation says the latest firmware is available only for Surface Pro 8 with LTE, all Surface Pro 8 models from now on will receive shared updates similar to how Microsoft releases firmware updates for the Surface Pro X family.

What is new in January 2022 firmware update for Surface Pro 8 LTE

January 2022 firmware update for Surface Pro 8 LTE does not contain much. Although it comes with a pretty extensive list of new drivers, the changelog mentions only two things:

  • The update enables feature support for the new Surface Pen and Type Cover.
  • The update improves system stability and merges support for Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro 8 with LTE Advanced.

January 2021 firmware update is available for Surface Pro 8 with LTE running Windows 10 20H2 or newer. Microsoft says there are no known issues, but you need to keep in mind that you cannot roll back firmware updates on Surface devices.
